The role
What it means to grow here

Cape Nursery is a production-focused wholesale nursery operating from a 14-acre coastal site in Ewingsdale, 7km from Byron Bay. We have been producing advanced trees and screening plants since 1989, and since 2005 have invested heavily in the infrastructure, biosecurity systems, and growing practices that distinguish us in the market.

Working at Cape Nursery means working with plants that matter. Our stock goes into commercial landscape projects, council streetscapes, and prestige residential developments across Australia. The quality of what we produce has a direct and visible impact on the built environment.

The nursery operates Monday to Thursday. We maintain a small, skilled team with a culture of professional rigour — our NIASA accreditation, NATSPEC compliance, and PBR licensing programme all require consistent, documented practices that demand real expertise from everyone involved in production.

The growing site

Our 14-acre site is covered by computerised drip irrigation, UV-sterilised water recycling, and trellised growing structures across the full production area. The coastal location means every growing day is in conditions that directly reflect the project environments our stock goes into. It is a genuinely interesting place to work as a plant professional.

The site is 7km from Byron Bay town centre and easily accessible from the Pacific Highway interchange at Ewingsdale Road. We are within commuting distance of Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads, Bangalow, and Ballina.

The industry
Why wholesale nursery production
🌿
Tangible, lasting work
Wholesale production horticulture produces stock that becomes permanent features of the built environment. Trees you grow will be standing in 50 years. It is a form of applied horticulture with real, visible, long-term outcomes.
📈
A growing industry
Australian landscape construction has grown consistently over the past decade, driven by residential development, council greening programmes, and commercial landscape investment. Skilled wholesale nursery production staff are in short supply across the sector.
🌎
Technical depth
Modern commercial nursery production combines agronomy, irrigation management, plant pathology, biosecurity, and logistics. At an accredited wholesale nursery, there is significant technical complexity across every aspect of the operation.
🌊
Northern NSW lifestyle
Cape Nursery is 7km from Byron Bay in one of Australia’s most sought-after lifestyle regions. Ewingsdale is 15 minutes from the beach, surrounded by farmland, and well connected to the Northern Rivers community of professional horticulturists and landscapers.
