NIASA Accreditation
The Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA) is the industry’s highest standard for plant health, growing practices, and biosecurity. Accredited nurseries are audited against a comprehensive standard covering growing media, water management, pest and disease management, traceability, and staff training. Cape Nursery holds current NIASA accreditation across all production operations.
📑
NATSPEC Compliance
NATSPEC is Australia’s national specification system for construction and landscape projects. NATSPEC plant specifications require accredited nursery supply for many government, council, and commercial projects. Cape Nursery’s NIASA accreditation and documented growing practices meet the plant health and traceability requirements of NATSPEC plant specifications.

PBR Licensed Varieties
Cape Nursery holds Plant Breeder’s Rights (PBR) licensing for four important commercial varieties: Acmena Sublime™, Syzygium Pinnacle™, Tristaniopsis Luscious™, and Elaeocarpus Prima Donna. PBR licensing (IP Australia) confirms that we are authorised to propagate and sell these protected varieties, and that royalties are correctly managed through the breeding organisations.

Our licensed growing programme
Acmena smithii Sublime™
Psyllid-resistant Lilly Pilly. Dense, fast-growing screening plant with excellent tolerance of the lerp psyllid infestations that affect standard Acmena. One of the most important hedging advances of the past decade.
Syzygium australe Pinnacle™
Compact, columnar screening Lilly Pilly with exceptional psyllid resistance. Narrow, upright growth habit makes it ideal for tight screening applications where width is limited but height is required.
Tristaniopsis laurina Luscious™
A refined Water Gum selection with superior ornamental qualities. Compact, dense growth habit with attractive smooth bark and masses of yellow flowers. Ideal for feature and avenue tree applications.
Elaeocarpus Prima Donna
A superior Blueberry Ash selection with exceptional ornamental characteristics. Prolific flowering, attractive blue fruit, and compact, well-shaped growth habit. A premium choice for feature tree and avenue applications.
